Chronic Constipation All My Life. As A Child I Remember

Chronic constipation all my life. As a child I remember straining. Now that I am in my 80's my bowels do not move at all on their own. I found a herb that REALLY works, Aloe Ferox comes from the Aloe Vera in Africa. When I had a colonoscopy Sept 1 of this year my doctor said she never saw such bowels that were so dark in color but that is one of the side affects of this herb. She wants me to take this drug Amitiza. My thought, wouldn't it be better to take an herb than a drug?
