Could Nicotine Gums Be The Cause For Elevation In Liver Enzymes?

My husband had high liver levels on a recent test. He is going back to do some more tests. We don't believe that he has hepatitis, he is not a heavy drinker (occasional drinks) but he has been chewing nicotine gum to try to quit smoking. Could nicotine gum cause elevated liver levels?
