Could Abscess On Lower Abdomen Be Due To Bursting Of Appendicitis?

i had appendicitis, my appendix ruptured and an isolated abscess appeared, i had a drain in my lower right abdomen to remove the abscess. at first they told me that i needed surgery (appendectomy) then they told i wouldnt because my appendix destroyed itself, blew itself up, is that true
