Could Bad Odour In Finger Nail Be Due To Persistent Infection?

I had an infection in my nail bed that caused my finger to swell. I went to the ER and got it treated. The doctor prescribed antibiotics and attempted to drain the fluid. I completed the antibiotics and much of the swelling has gone down, but the finger still has a foul smell. Is there still a problem? How do I ensure that everything has been cleaned out of the finger?
