Could Bruising And Blackness Of Toe Finger Be Due To Breakage Or Dislocation?

I can t say my toe was broken or just dislocated, because I did not go to the hospital and get an x ray. My RN friend put it back into place and put a splint on it. The bruising is spreading up my foot and the toe is black and blue.it happened 2 days ago. Should I go to the hospital to get it looked at or let it stay in splint a bit longer
