Could Burning Sensation On Top Of Foot Be Due To Nerve Entrapment?

I have had this burning sensation on the top of my left foot over my two middle toes with some difficulty with movement. could this be a stress fracture or nerve entrapment .it does matter whether I wear shoes or not. thank you for reading this e-mail
