Could Dark, Red Splotches In Eye Be Related To Burning Bruise On The Side Of Body?

A friend of mine had a dark red splotches in her eye for a few weeks. It finally cleared up but now she has just today discovered a bruise with a burning, uncomfortable feeling on her side that wasn t there yesterday. Could the two be related, and if so, what could it be?
