Could Depression And Mood Swings Be Due To The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Ritalin?

I have a bipolar husband that went off Ritalin cold turkey 3 weeks ago and now he is in an extreme depressed state ....his moods are all over the board, cant focus and is just awful to live with. Are there terrible side effects associated with going off Ritalin?
