Could Diarrhea Be Related To Pneumonia?

Hello. I recently had a bad cough. The. Dr dais it was the early stages of pnemonia. About four or five days into being sick my stomach got tight and distended especially at my diaphragm. I also started to have diarrhea and going to the bath room a lot. I went to the dr and she said it was from the cough but I don t really know if that s the case. Is that possible, straining your stomach so badly that you get diarrhea?
