Could Drugs Combined With Alcohol Be The Cause For Seizures?

Hi, my son has been recently diagnosed with JME Epilepsy. He had 2 seizures at the age of 17 and we found is CAT and MRI to be normal. However, his EEG showed minor spike abnormalities. Since this time, I have found out that my son has been using a drug MDMA combined with alcohol. Could this have been the cause of the seizures and could the diagnosis of JME be wrong???
