Could Elevated Blood Pressure Be Due To Stress?

Hi my dad who is 80 just had his blood pressure taken today 176/70 it's been high before but not this hi
his Dr has td him to take some kind of meds. Is he going to b ok he has been under stress as mum also 80 has had Gaul bladder stones removed back in August then 2 weeks fell on knee and had cracked knee cap in Brase for 4 weeks didn't heal so had to had knee op to put on pins and had full length Brase on till 1 week before Xmas
extremely concerned for both as she has heart condition and not in good health
