Could Elevated Values Of Smudge Cells Be A Matter Of Concern?

Hello My son just got back from having a blood test. We were there earlier this week and also had a blood test done. We returned today because the doctor found his previous blood results alarming. They indicated a 20 smudge result. So he reordered the test, previous test was a finger prick, this one was a blood withdrawal from the arm. The smudge result today came back as a 10. The lab then did something else to help rule out human/machine error. Then it came back as a 0. We are still going to go to a hematologist to have this checked. Is it silly for me to be as worried as I am or is my parental worry justified? He is 4 years old.
