Could Extra Tonsil Growing At The Side Of Tonsil Be Normal?

Hi my best friend has what looks like an extra tonsil growing out of the side of his tonsil. I m not sure what it is. It doesn t cause him any pain, though he says it s a bit irritating. His voice hasn t changed, he doesn t have a fever or isn t sick. He had an awful cough about a week ago that has cleared up. He has a split uvula if that has anything to do with this. He plans to see the doctor but do you think this is alarming?
