Could Grinding Noise In Knee While Climbing With Weakness In Shoulder Be Arthritis?

When walking upstair s my right need makes a squelchy, grinding noise after the first few steps this affects evey step. Walking on a flat surface or downstairs this noise isnt present. on waking it can feel as if the knee has ceased with a dull ache once i get moving. Also have re occurring shoulder pain and loss of strength in grip. Could this be arthritis? Can i do anything to ease this? Do i neeed to see a gp? I m 46yrs
