Could Hallucination Be Related To Age?

my mother just turned 80 and has always been medically sound, she has started wearing hearing aids and cant hear 50% of what is being heard by others, in the last week she has started hearing and believing she is hearing our neighbors 100 yards away and through windows beating and killing each other, it starts after dark and we cant get her to believe she isn t hearing anything. her doctor said it may be from a kidney infection, last night she called the police at 3 am and wouldn t believe them when they told her no one was home. but later today she became clear and talking normal. ??????
