Could Itchy And Irritated Heel After Exfoliation Be Infection?

I recently went to get a pedicure, and they used a cheese grader looking tool to exfoliate my foot. Since it was like a cheese grader she couldn t properly exfoliate my foot (ex. go around the heel properly) Since then my heels especially have been VERY itchy and irritated when I walk. I work at a local hospital and i m on my feet all day. Could this be an infection? if so How do I treat it?
