Could Loss Of Hearing Be Due To Middle Ear Infection?

I haven t been able to hear very well out of my left ear for quite some time. I ve tried many allergy nose sprays, and nothing seems to help. Now over the past few weeks the left side of my body has a numb tingly feeling. Could this be a deep middle ear infection? A friend of mine had this happen and that s what it ended up being.
