Could Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Cause Pain Emanating From My Hip

Could lumbar spinal stenosis cause pain emanating from my hip and continuing to my thigh muscle? Both are on the same (right) side. The pain subsides when I sit down but can excrutiating when I'm on my feet. I'm trying to get a referral from my clinic and want to narrow down who I should see: an MD or other professional.
