Could My Boyfriend’s Sudden Rage, Memory Gaps, And “other Personality” Episodes Indicate A Frontal Lobe Issue, Or Should He Seek Psychiatric Evaluation?

My boyfriend experiences very sudden changes in mood. At times uncontrollable rage/anger. When in these moods sometimes he will even begin speaking as another personality. He then wakes/comes to consciousness/himself again and does not remember. He also wakes with a horrible head ache and feeling week. He began being withdrawn etc some years ago and started developing anger problems. I am wondering if this may be a frontal lobe issue and if we need to get him an mri vs psych help
