Could Numbness And Pain In Shoulder Be Due To Strained Muscle?

I injured what I believe is my rotator cuff arm wrestling. There is lots of numbness to the touch on the back of the shoulder. Obviously I am in pain, but I am not sure if its torn or just really strained. How long should I give it before I go see a doctor?
