Could Pain In Legs During Nights Be Related To Diabetes?

hi!my father has a diabetes and he s taking insulin for almost a year..He s blood sugar reaches 500 but not until he gets insulin.but he s legs hurts a problem usually occurs at night so hes having a hard time sleeping. Is this still connected to his diabities or another kind of desease. Thanks
