Could Pain On Left Side Of Chest And Back Be Due To Shingles?

I am experiencing pain in the left side of my chest and back. After complete exam, my doctor thinks it might be shingles. It has been a week with this pain, but no rash. Would it be safe to get a shingles vaccination right now just to be safe, or would it make it worse if this turns out to be shingles?
