Could Pain Radiating From Upper Abdomen To Back Be Due To Gallstones?

Hi I have had stomach pain for a week it is some times worse but is not connected to eating. The pain is in the upper abdomen and goes through to my back. It is helped with paracetamol but is getting me down. A friend said it could be gall stones should I get it checked?
