Could Rashes And Itching Post Inguinal Hernia Repair Be Due To Allergic Reaction?

I had an inguinal hernia repair 1 1/2 yr ago. Then 7 months later I got a rash with severe itching all over my body. Went to dermatologist who did 3 punch biopsies which were negative for parasites or anything else. Could this be an allergic reaction to the mesh that was used. I might mention I had a total knee 3/12 yrs ago and I have always been allergic to a lot of metals. I can t wear jewelry.
