Could Rashes On Face Be Contagious?

So, i went the doctor on Tuesday with a rash on face. They thought it might first phase of shingles. I am on Valacyclovir. I have no weeping or open sores. Just a light /bumpy rash. Am i contagious? I am supposed to go to my Granddaughter s B day party on Saturday.
