Could Series Of Hard Lumps On Leg After A Fall Indicate Hematoma?

During the snowfall here on long island, my dad injured the inside of his thigh. He was stepping over a guardrail, and his foot fell through he snow/ice. As he sunk in his leg that was stepping over got flayed by the guard rail. He didn t bang his leg on it. It dug into his thigh and like gouged from his knee up to his crotch. He experienced severe swelling, which ended up subsiding after a few days. Now he has a series of hard lumps in his leg. Are those lumps hematoma? did he damage the facia in his leg?
