Could Sharp Pain In Abdomen Be Connected To Abnormal Periods?

ive been recently feeling random sharp throbbing pains in my lower right and left abdomen just under my belly button, mostly on my right side. My stomach feels a bit firm as well. My period cycle has been abnormal for the past few months and has been 5-6 weeks apart, my last period only last a few days with a low flow, which is abnormal for me. could my pain intertwine to this cause? and What may be the cause of this?
