Could Smoking Salt Be Life Threatening?

A friend of mine has been getting into crystal meth lately, and I worry profusely. There are some dodgy deals of salt going around lately and considering my friend is inexperienced she probably won t be able to tell the difference. I have heard that smoking salt can kill you, how much would it take?
