Could The Clot In Brain Be Due To Nitro Tablets?

What can happen if your taking nitro tablets, when there NOT prescribed to you?? My brother ended up having a stroke today, and I found out after they went in and busted up the clot in his brain, that his daughter was supplying him with nitro tablets.. I'm mad about this and they never told the Dr's.
