Could The Habit Of Compulsively Pulling My Hair When It Grows An Inch Or Two, Often Without Realizing It Be Stress, Anxiety, Or A Compulsive Disorder?
I have really short hair and when it gets long enough to pull ( an inch or two ) I get stressed out or anxious ( I don t know the right word for it ) and I pull on my hair because I think it s too long and it needs to be shaved. my friends caught me doing it at lunch and one of them grabbed my wrist to stop me. another friend when I explained it said it could be stress or maybe a compulsion? but I don t know I thought it was just a quirk. i asked my friend if it seemed like I did it persistently because I thought it wasn t but I wanted to be sure and she said yeah man you do it a lot .I think it s starting to become a reflex because it s beginning to be that I don t know I m doing it until I m pulling. I m trying to stop by wearing a beanie and that helps but I m not allowed to wear it at school
