Could The Metal In Ear Causes Lymph Nodes To Swell?

my husband is a welder. he got a peice of metal in his ear which is visable to our family doctor. He now has swollen lymph nodes, in his neck, armpits, and groin. he was sent for a biopsy we are awaiting the results, they think he has lymphoma, could the metal in his ear cause all lymph nodes to swell?
