Could Tightness In Chest And Inability To Cough Be Due To Severe Sore Throat?

I have a severe sore throat (like it is on fire) and a very tight chest and am unable to cough anything up and am loosing my voice. What cough medicine would you recommend that I take to help me to be able to cough? Thank you. YYYY@YYYY
