Could Umbilical Cord Around The Neck Be The Cause For Demise Of Baby?

In the birth of my daughter, she was induced and we lost her heart beat. They tried to break my water to get the internal monitor but couldn't. They did an emergency csection and the cord was wrapped right around her neck and chest. If they would have broken my water successfully would that have strangled the baby?
