Dear Doctor,
I have an annoying pain around the anus after each bowel movement. It's been months. Today the doctor examined it and said it was an anal fissure. He gave me a gel containing lidocaine which I have to use after every bowel movement, and advised me to follow a diet full of fiber, fruits, and lots of liquids for about a month. Can you give me any further advice? Are antibiotic ointments or gels necessary as well?
