Dear Sir/Madame
Could you please help me? Since July of this year I have been
experiencing what I suspect are seizures. My husband has 5
video's on his mobile of me having pretty intense seizures where
my whole body tenses up, one of my arm locks/jerks, my face
tenses up and I make funny noises. One time my jaw has drooped down to
one side. I am unsure whether it is epilepsy or hypoglycemia. The
reason why is I seem to have "small" seizures at least 3/4 times
a week and always seem to be after I have eaten lunch. I start
off by making labour birth noises and then I stare into space and
ask my husband the same question over and over. I have absolutely
no memory whatsoever when this happens. Today after lunch I
blanked out (I was conscious) for around 20 minutes. I came round
and couldn't remember anything then slowly my memory came back.
We went to the doctors about 2 hrs afterwards as we had an
appointment with a diabetic nurse. Whilst waiting my husband told
me I started having a pretty intense seizure, my whole body
tensed up, my face/neck tensed up, my arm was jerking, I was
making gurgling noises and the nurses and doctors had to lay me
on the floor and put a gas mask on me. Basically I am unsure
whether it is epilepsy or hypoglycemia as the small seizures
always seem to be after I have eaten and people can still have
seizures if they suffer from hypoglycemia. I have had an CT scan,
MRI and two EEG's, all came back fine. I am waiting to have
another EEG where I will have the wires attached to my head and
then sent home for a few days. If you could help me I would be so
grateful as this is just taking over my life at the min. I cant
work, my husband is like my carer at the minute, I cant go out by
myself. After my seizure today I felt so drained when I got home,
my muscles felt pretty sore, I felt like I had been lifting heavy
weights!
I suspect it is post postprandial hypo tension where all the blood rushes to the stomach area which is why I seem to have a conscious blackout. Even though I am awake and asking my husband the same question over and over I have no recollection once I have came back round properly. It always seems to be after I have eaten, so far only happened 4 times after an evening meal,(since Sep 2015) and has happened countless times it has happened after breakfast/lunch!
Any help or advice you can offer would be very much appreciated!
Kind Regards
Nicola Hogg
