Do Stitches On Skin After Circumcision Dissolve By Themselves?

I was circumcised about 2 months ago and the wound is well healed etc. However there appears to be 3 or 4 stitches still underneath the skin that have not dissolved and they are a little uncomfortable. Will they naturally go away in time, can I take them out myself, or shud I get my GP to remove them?
