Do The Damaged Knuckles Need A Cast?

I have a cast on my left thumb because of surgery. I tripped and fell flat on my face breaking mt nose and damaging the two outer knuckles on left hand. It swelled and turned blue. My cast will come off in two days and hand x-rayed. Will I need another cast on my knuckles?
