Does Clomid Help To Treat Infertility?

I am 22 years old and I have been trying to conceive for a year now. I did get pregnant in July, but I had a miscarriage in August. I have very irregular periods (only had 3 periods in 2010) and I do not ovulate regularly. I do have a 3 year old daughter that I conceived without help, but I am now looking into Clomid. Is Clomid a good choice to jump start my ovulation?
