Does Flatkin Gel Help In Reduction Of Scar Marks?

hi my son is 8 years old and he has got stiches 1 month before near eye which is about 1 and half inch our doctor has suggested a cream named flatkin gel.(silicon gel) is this cream useful to fade stiches mark?if not please suggest treatment to remove the mark.
