Does IUD Cause Foul Smelling Vaginal Discharge?

I have had an IUD for 2 years and now for the last two months my periods have had a really strong foul not fishy smell and are light in flow and brown in color. Also throughout the month there is sometimes an odor that is more fishy. I know the brown is old blood, but should I be concerned?
