Does Sotalol Interfere With Ciprofloxacin Taken For Diverticulitis?

My 94-year-old father has been prescribed ciprofloxacin for diverticulitis. we seem to remember a past event when he was taking cipro for a uti and it interacted with his sotalol - ended up passing out and spending several days in the hospital. Should he stop the cipro and call his MD for something else? He is allergic to penicillin.
