Does Xanax Helps To Cure Panic Attack?

My daughter had a panic attack today and the Dr gave her a shot of phenegran and told us it would make her rest and sleep. It has not done this and she had another panic attack. My question is, is it ok to give her a Xanax to help her calm her mind until she can see her Dr on Monday. She does have a history of panic attacks.
