Does Acid Reflux Result In Any Long Term Damage To Oesophagus?

My baby is now four months old and has reflux approximately an hour after her feeds (exclusively breast fed). Would infant gaviscon relieve her symptoms?or would the symptoms dissipate naturally as she grows older? Also does reflux result in any long term damage to the esophagus/ digestive track?
