Does An Abdominal Floating Cyst Need Immediate Surgery?

Hi, my friend has just been told she has a floating cyst in her abdomen which is quite large, they have sent her home and she has to wait for a certain type doctor to operate on her, which is not going to be until may or june, is this a long wait for someone whos in so much pain ?
