Does Change In Birth Control Pill Cause Bleeding?

Hi I have been on the same birth control for over a year and i just switched over to a stronger birth control because the one i was on before wasnt strong enough. For the past week i have been having random bleeding, even if i take my pill on time i still bleed. What could be the cause of this?
