Does Constantly Talking With Raised Voice Affect My Vocal Chords?

I am a 27 year old female that works in a bar and i loose my voice once or twice a week from straining to talk over music or people. I am curious is this dangerous for my voice long term? My grandmother had a vocal cord collapse which required surgery and changed the pitch of her voice forever. Is this gonna happen to me?
