Does Contraceptive Pills Cause Irregular Periods?

I had sex around 48 hours prior to ovulation, so before 24 hours have passed away i took a medicine that consists of one pill only. but now (15 days since the beginning of my last period) i spotted blood. and usually i have a regular menstrual cycle. is this my period which changed due to the pill or what ?
