Does Deep Throating Oral Sex Cause Tonsillitis?

I gave oral sex a few nights ago and deep throated. 2 days later I have been told I have tonsillitis. I am on antibiotics I feel like it's not working. My throat is so sore and it hurts to swallow. Can you get tonsillitis from deep throating and how long till the pain goes away?
