Does Degenerative Disc Disease Cause Shift In Neck Muscles?

Yes please. 15 years ago I suffered and injury that resulted in a bulging disc which cause degenerative disc disease. Two years ago I went on a decompression machine to try to rebuild the bulging disc. My pain decreased significantly Last week I was rear ended and hit my head really hard on the head rest of the car. I became very sick and suffered from whiplash. My neck has been in pain so the doctor ordered x-rays. They showed my neck/spine shifted to the left about 1/2 . Would this shift be from my degenerative disc disease. My doctor and I are trying to figure out if it is old or new so we know how to bill.
