Does Elevation Of Potassium Level Lead To Kidney Diseases?

I have stage 3 kidney disease and my doctor has me on several blood pressure medicines but I am also taking potassium tablet daily. Every thing I ve read about kidney disease says the potassium level is high, so why would he have me taking porassium ?
